Based off the concept art by Andy Walsh.
The environment is being rendered within Unreal Engine 4.
I wanted to produce an environment that used exterior lighting whilst also providing the challenge of creating various tiled textures to gain more experience with Substance Designer.
A main rule that I enforced throughout the project was to sculpt 80% of prop detail within Zbrush by hand, once the model got to a place I was happy with I'd provide additional detail and variety using height data from real world materials.
Taking inspiration from the "Prise de Tahure " map produced by DICE for Battlefield 1, I wanted to add my own take on the concept art by changing the overall lighting of the environment to be vibrant whilst retaining some sense of cold from the snow storm.
